1. Shiva Panchakshari Mantra

oṃ namaḥ śivāya ॥

Om Namah Shivaya

Om, salutations to Shiva — the five-syllable root mantra.

2. Mahamrityunjaya Mantra

oṃ tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam । / urvārukamiva bandhanān mṛtyormukṣīya māmṛtāt ॥

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityormukshiya Mamritat

We worship the three-eyed Lord, fragrant, the increaser of nourishment; like the ripe cucumber from its stem, may I be freed from death, not from immortality.

3. Rudra Gayatri Mantra

oṃ tatpuruṣāya vidmahe mahādevāya dhīmahi । / tanno rudraḥ pracodayāt ॥

Om Tatpurushaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dhimahi Tanno Rudrah Prachodayat

May we know the Supreme Person, may we meditate on Mahadeva; may Rudra inspire us.

4. Shiva Gayatri Mantra

oṃ mahādevāya vidmahe rudramūrtaye dhīmahi । / tannaḥ śivaḥ pracodayāt ॥

Om Mahadevaya Vidmahe Rudramurtaye Dhimahi Tannah Shivah Prachodayat

May we know Mahadeva, may we meditate on the form of Rudra; may Shiva inspire us.

5. Mrityunjaya Prayer

oṃ mṛtyuñjaya mahādeva trāhi māṃ śaraṇāgatam । / janma-mṛtyu-jarā-vyādhipīḍitaṃ karmabandhanaiḥ ॥

Om Mrityunjaya Mahadeva Trahi Mam Sharanagatam Janma Mrityu Jara Vyadhipiditam Karmabandhanaih

O death-conquering Mahadeva, protect me who has taken refuge in you — afflicted by birth, death, old age and disease, and bound by the bonds of karma.

6. Dakshinamurti Mantra

oṃ namo bhagavate dakṣiṇāmūrtaye । / mahyaṃ medhāṃ prajñāṃ prayaccha svāhā ॥

Om Namo Bhagavate Dakshinamurtaye Mahyam Medham Prajnam Prayachchha Svaha

Salutations to Lord Dakshinamurti; grant me retentive intellect and wisdom, svaha. (A mantra for knowledge.)

7. Nilakantha Mantra

oṃ namo nīlakaṇṭhāya ॥

Om Namo Nilakanthaya

Om, salutations to the blue-throated one (Shiva, who drank the poison).
