Shri Rama

राम मन्त्र

Rama Mantra

Taraka mantra from the Padma Purana (Shiva tradition); Rama mantra is pan-Vaishnava tradition.

The divine name of Rama is itself the supreme mantra in the Ramanandi and Varkari traditions. The Taraka mantra "Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram" is said to be the essence of the Ramayana — seventeen syllables that carry the seeker across the ocean of samsara. Tulsidas considered the name "Ram" to be greater than both Brahman and Vishnu himself.
