Eight short verses by Adi Shankaracharya invoking Lord Achyuta (the unfailing, imperishable one — Vishnu) by his many divine names, each verse closing with the prayer "śrīpate śamaya duḥkham aśeṣam" — O Lord of Lakshmi, remove all sorrow entirely. The verse structure is a garland of epithets: each name reveals a different aspect — the protector of devotees (Achyuta), the son of Devaki, the playmate of the Yamuna, the bearer of Govardhana, the lord of Dvaraka. The phala-shruti declares that recitation detaches the mind from sense-objects and removes all suffering of birth. A compact, high-density hymn much favored for daily recitation.
