Eight verses of total surrender to Goddess Bhavani (Parvati). The devotee confesses complete ignorance of all religious practices and worldly support, placing sole reliance on the Divine Mother. Each verse ends with the refrain "gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni" — you alone are my refuge. One of Shankaracharya's most moving compositions of bhakti and self-surrender.

न तातो न माता न बन्धुर्न दाता, न पुत्रो न पुत्री न भृत्यो न भर्ता।
न जाया न विद्या न वृत्तिर्ममैव, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

na tāto na mātā na bandhurna dātā, na putro na putrī na bhṛtyo na bhartā | na jāyā na vidyā na vṛttirmamaiva, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

Na tato na mata na bandhurna data, na putro na putri na bhrityo na bharta | na jaya na vidya na vrittirmamaiva, gatistvam gatistvam tvameka Bhavani ||

न पिता, न माता, न बन्धु, न दाता; न पुत्र, न पुत्री, न सेवक, न स्वामी; न पत्नी, न विद्या, न कोई जीविका ही मेरी है — हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

Neither father, nor mother, nor kinsman, nor benefactor; neither son nor daughter, neither servant nor husband. Neither wife, nor learning, nor livelihood have I — you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

भवाब्धावपारे महादुःखभीरुः, पपात प्रकामी प्रलोभी प्रमत्तः।
कुसंसारपाशप्रबद्धः सदाऽहं, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

bhavābdhāv apāre mahāduḥkhabhīruḥ, papāta prakāmī pralobhī pramattaḥ | kusaṃsārapāśaprabaddhaḥ sadāhaṃ, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

इस अपार भवसागर में महादुःखों से डरा हुआ, कामी, लोभी और प्रमत्त मैं गिर पड़ा हूँ, और सदा कुत्सित संसार के पाशों में बँधा हूँ — हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

Fallen into the boundless ocean of worldly existence, afraid of great suffering, seized by desire, greed, and delusion — I am always bound by the noose of this wretched world; you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

न जानामि दानं न च ध्यानयोगं, न जानामि तन्त्रं न च स्तोत्रमन्त्रम्।
न जानामि पूजां न च न्यासयोगं, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

na jānāmi dānaṃ na ca dhyānayogaṃ, na jānāmi tantraṃ na ca stotramantram | na jānāmi pūjāṃ na ca nyāsayogaṃ, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

Na janami danam na cha dhyanayogam, na janami tantram na cha stotramantram | na janami pujam na cha nyasayogam, gatistvam gatistvam tvameka Bhavani ||

मैं न दान जानता हूँ, न ध्यान-योग; न तन्त्र जानता हूँ, न स्तोत्र और मन्त्र; न पूजा जानता हूँ, न न्यास-योग — हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

I know not charity, nor the yoga of meditation; I know not tantric practice, nor hymns or mantra. I know not ritual worship, nor the yoga of nyasa — you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

न जानामि पुण्यं न जानामि तीर्थं, न जानामि मुक्तिं लयं वा कदाचित्।
न जानामि भक्तिं व्रतं वापि मातर्, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

na jānāmi puṇyaṃ na jānāmi tīrthaṃ, na jānāmi muktiṃ layaṃ vā kadācit | na jānāmi bhaktiṃ vrataṃ vāpi mātar, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

Na janami punyam na janami tirtham, na janami muktim layam va kadachit | na janami bhaktim vratam vapi matar, gatistvam gatistvam tvameka Bhavani ||

मैं न पुण्य जानता हूँ, न तीर्थ; न कभी मुक्ति या लय को ही जानता हूँ; हे माता! न भक्ति जानता हूँ, न व्रत — हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

I know not virtue, nor sacred pilgrimage; I know not liberation or dissolution. I know not devotion, nor any vow — O Mother, you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

कुकर्मी कुसंगी कुबुद्धिः कुदासः, कुलाचारहीनः कदाचारलीनः।
कुदृष्टिः कुवाक्यप्रबन्धः सदाऽहं, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

kukarmī kusaṃgī kubuddhiḥ kudāsaḥ, kulācārahīnaḥ kadācāralīnaḥ | kudṛṣṭiḥ kuvākyaprabandhaḥ sadāhaṃ, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

Kukarmi kusangi kubuddhih kudasah, kulachara hinah kadachara linah | kudrishtih kuvakya prabandhah sadaham, gatistvam gatistvam tvameka Bhavani ||

मैं कुकर्मी, कुसंगी, कुबुद्धि और कुत्सित दास हूँ; कुलाचार से हीन और कदाचार में लीन हूँ; सदा कुदृष्टि और कुवचनों में लगा रहता हूँ — हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

I am a doer of wrong deeds, keeper of bad company, of corrupt mind, a wretched servant; devoid of noble conduct and immersed in evil ways. Always of wrong vision and given to wicked speech — you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

प्रजेशं रमेशं महेशं सुरेशं, दिनेशं निशीथेश्वरं वा कदाचित्।
न जानामि चान्यत् सदाहं शरण्ये, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

prajeśaṃ rameśaṃ maheśaṃ sureśaṃ, dineśaṃ niśītheśvaraṃ vā kadācit | na jānāmi cānyat sadāhaṃ śaraṇye, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

Prajasham Ramesham Mahesham Suresham, Dinesham Nishitheshvaram va kadachit | na janami chanyat sadaham sharanye, gatistvam gatistvam tvameka Bhavani ||

मैं ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश, इन्द्र, सूर्य या चन्द्रमा — किसी अन्य को कभी शरण-रूप में नहीं जानता; हे शरण्ये! हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

Brahma the lord of creatures, Vishnu the lord of Lakshmi, Shiva the great lord, Indra the lord of gods — the Sun, or the lord of night — I know none other; O you who are the refuge, you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

विवादे विषादे प्रमादे प्रवासे, जले चानले पर्वते शत्रुमध्ये।
अरण्ये शरण्ये सदा मां प्रपाहि, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

vivāde viṣāde pramāde pravāse, jale cānale parvate śatrumadhye | araṇye śaraṇye sadā māṃ prapāhi, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

Vivade vishade pramade pravase, jale chanale parvate shatrumadhe | aranye sharanye sada mam prapahi, gatistvam gatistvam tvameka Bhavani ||

विवाद में, विषाद में, प्रमाद में, परदेश में; जल में, अग्नि में, पर्वत पर, शत्रुओं के बीच और वन में — हे शरण्ये! सदा मेरी रक्षा कीजिए; हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

In argument, in grief, in error, in distant lands; in water, in fire, on mountains, in the midst of enemies; in the forest — O refuge — protect me always. You alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.

अनाथो दरिद्रो जरारोगयुक्तो, महाक्षीणदीनः सदा जाड्यवक्त्रः।
विपत्तौ प्रविष्टः प्रनष्टः सदाऽहं, गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥

anātho daridro jarārogayukto, mahākṣīṇadīnaḥ sadā jāḍyavaktraḥ | vipattau praviṣṭaḥ pranaṣṭaḥ sadāhaṃ, gatistvaṃ gatistvaṃ tvamekā bhavāni ||

मैं अनाथ, दरिद्र, जरा और रोग से ग्रस्त, अत्यन्त क्षीण-दीन, सदा जड़ता से घिरे मुखवाला, विपत्ति में पड़ा और नष्टप्राय हूँ — हे भवानी! एक आप ही मेरी गति हैं, आप ही मेरी गति हैं।

Helpless, destitute, afflicted by old age and disease; greatly diminished and wretched, my face always dull with torpor; always entering calamity and falling into ruin — you alone are my refuge, you alone, O Bhavani.
