Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Deva

Traditional North Indian devotional aarti

The beloved Ganesh Aarti sung at the start of every puja and auspicious occasion. Ganesha, remover of obstacles and son of Parvati and Shiva, is invoked with his single tusk, four arms, and mouse mount — the bestower of sight to the blind, sons to the barren, and prosperity to the poor.

jaya gaṇeśa jaya gaṇeśa jaya gaṇeśa devā | mātā jākī pārvatī, pitā mahādevā ||

Jai Ganesh jai Ganesh jai Ganesh deva | mata jaki Parvati, pita Mahadeva ||

Victory to Ganesha, victory to Ganesha, victory to Ganesha the God! His mother is Parvati, his father the great Shiva.

ekadanta dayāvanta, cāra bhujādhārī | māthe sindūra sohe, mūse kī savārī ||

Ekadant dayavant, char bhujahdhari | mathe sindur sohe, muse ki savari ||

Single-tusked and compassionate, bearing four arms. Adorned with vermillion on his brow, he rides the mouse.

pāna caṛhe phūla caṛhe, aura caṛhe mevā | laḍḍuan kā bhoga lage, santa kareṃ sevā ||

Pan chadhhe phool chadhhe, aur chadhhe meva | ladduon ka bhog lage, sant karen seva ||

Betel leaves are offered, flowers are offered, dried fruits are offered. Laddus are placed as his offering; the saints perform his service.

andhana ko āṃkha deta, koṛhiyaṃ ko kāyā | bāṃjhana ko putra deta, nirdhana ko māyā ||

Andhan ko ankh det, kodhin ko kaya | banjhan ko putr det, nirdhan ko maya ||

To the blind he gives sight; to the leprous, a wholesome body. To the barren he gives a son; to the poor, prosperity.

sūra śyāma śaraṇa āe, saphala kīje sevā | mātā jākī pārvatī, pitā mahādevā ||

Sur Shyam sharan ae, saphal kije seva | mata jaki Parvati, pita Mahadeva ||
