Shri Krishna (Vishnu)
हरे कृष्ण महामन्त्र
Hare Krishna Mahamantra
Kali-Santarana Upanishad (Atharva Veda tradition). The Moola Mantra is from the Tantric tradition.
The Hare Krishna Mahamantra is described in the Kali-Santarana Upanishad as the supreme mantra for the Kali age — sixteen names of the Lord in thirty-two syllables. It was spread across the world by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (15th–16th century) and is the central practice of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. Recitation as kirtan (group singing) or japa (108 times on beads) is said to purify the heart and awaken love of God.
